Uwe Banton was born in the mid-1960s in Germany. He started his intense relationship with Reggae Music and the culture after he had travelled to Jamaica in the early 1980s.

In the mid-1980s he made first steps as a reggae singer in the clubs and Sound System scene in Germany. In 1992 he joined his first reggae band called "One Vibe". After, he became a founding member and lead singer of the band "Movements" (1994) witch which he toured extensively between 1994 - 2004 doing countless shows in Germany and neighboring countries.

From 2005 he started pursuing his solo carreer as UWE BANTON.
